Frequently Asked Questions

1.Why do I need to come for counselling?

Many times, we find ourselves lost and sad or angry, panicky without knowing why, feeling low but unable to talk to anybody as you feel that nobody would understand your situation. At such times, it is always helpful to talk to a professional like a counselor/ psychotherapist to understand yourself better.

If ever, you are feeling distressed and unable to process your negative thoughts, talk therapy can help with sorting them out and make favourable changes, which helps you to clear your thoughts and redirect your energies to feel better.

Timings are flexible and on appointment basis only. So please call us on 98232 16629.

Over the years of my couseling experience I have observed that 30% of clients accomplish a benefit after only 3-6 sessions. Others may respond by the 8th session and if you are aiming for a full recovery, you might have to come in for more sessions till you find you are able to function and chances of relapse will be considerably reduced. To make progress, it is better not to go too long between sessions.

Working with an individual in a relationship therapy can work and help client gain insight into themselves, their family of origin and how these childhood experiences have impacted on their present behavior, attitudes and feelings. Once client understands why they do what they do, they will then be able to change and this can have a chain effect on you partner.

In couple counselling, we go into the observable connections between the partners. The pattern of their interactions – what people say and do with one another. Change happens by changing observable interactions between people.

Human beings function as an emotional unit and it is best if we look at them as a part of a family. When a client is experiencing difficulty, the family’s involvement in the therapy proves to be beneficial.
It could be a nuclear family, a joint family where each person affects the other, whether knowingly or unknowingly and going deeper into this relationship dynamics helps to understand each other and live more amicably.

A psychologist focuses mostly on treating emotional and mental issues in patients using behavioral interventions like therapy, etc.
We at ‘THE COUNSELING CENTER’ do use alternative complementary medicines like ‘BACH FLOWER THERAPY’ for emotional healing.
A psychiatrist on the other hand, is a trained medical doctor who prescribes allopathic medications as a course of treatment for mental health issues and a psychologist may refer the patient to a psychiatrist if need be. The psychologist and psychiatrist work in tandem at times to treat the patient.

People struggling with relationship issues, interpersonal communication, depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma, bereavement – and with children it can be behavior issues, inability to do well in studies, concentration problems, anger and such other issues. Know more about our counselling services.
